Because I like to go offroading I was in need of something that can help with my reception. When we were out at Joshua Tree we had zero reception so if there was an emergency we would have been in trouble. Also even more trouble I couldn't answer my DMs. Just kidding.

So I reached out to Weboost and tested out a new and improved version of their booster.

You need to move the internal antenna so that is is pointing away from the external and more towards you. You are getting some oscillation because of that and will get even better signal with the antennas pointing as much away from each other as possible. I have this booster and it is amazingly better than the older WeBoost Drive 4Gx. I've used it in some very remote areas and was able to get enough signal to make a call or send text on 1x where I had no signal previously with the Drive 4Gx.

A couple of notes Rob. The -db measurements are not linear like volume on your stereo. About every 6db gain effectively doubles the signal strength. You had about 18db in change, so effectively 8x improvement in signal. An Ookla data speed test is another good way to show difference. Also - moving that internal antenna away from the window will minimize your oscillation (basically the same as a feedback loop if you put a microphone too close to the speaker). If you attach it to your console or to the side of your seat you should get even better results.

A little late on the comment but that flashing red and green means it has failed to connect to the faster bands and connects to the slower bands so you would have to move your external antenna further from the booster. It should be turning green upon start up.

Does the tip of the outside antenna unscrew or detach from it's magnetic base? Also, You said in the video that if you were to make it permanent that you will need a different antenna. Have you thought about what you might use and do you think you can use a universal antenna? Or are these antennas specific

Great product. I'm not sure I'd install it versus leaving it in the box and using only in those times where I absolutely needed cell service.

The reviews on that app were terrible but you seemed to have have gotten it to function. You can find all that same data by putting in secrete iPhone codes ... in fact you can set the signal strength meter to show in #’s instead of bars. This way you can measure it the same way as the app.

Don't use it to often, it will give you extra strong radiation

My experience has been that these are really expensive for a few extra bars. You could get a nice HAM radio for the same price... just my opinion... there are also other codes on the iPhone that allow you to switch towers etc

Garmin Inreach Mini is awesome for basic communication. Wife and I use it to message the fam when we are out.
