Has Tiktok RUINED Reading???

Since the dawn of mankind, many soothsayers, philosophers, and wise men have attempted to predict the inevitable downfall of human civilization. In this video essay, I will explain how certain Babylonian steles, Levitical passages, and Mayan codices can all be interpreted as manifestations of a single divine revelation from the One: that this inevitable doom is in fact imminent, and will be brought into existence by the current "BookTok" phenomenon on social media. It will further be demonstrated that the only way to prevent this catastrophe will be by abandoning the entire concept of "reading" and returning to a primordial state of innocence wherein we are too illiterate to even understand the works of Colleen Hoover, yet alone those of Kafka or Borges. After you have finished watching, please share this video with all your acquaintances so they may play their part in preventing the collapse of civilization.

Why would you say something so controversial and yet so brave

The flash of text at the very end reads:
"Okay, but seriously, it's okay to like a hobby even if some of the people who also like that hobby online sometimes make you cringe; you were a cringy teenager too once; just leave people alone and do your own thing and stop trying to make this into a big deal."

You can read these types of texts by using the ", " and "." buttons to move the video one frame backwards and forthwards.

"Comics are ruining children's ability to read"
"TV is ruining children's ability to read"
"The internet is ruining children's ability to read"
"TikTok is ruining children's ability to read"
Etc, etc

Good thing I'm not on TikTok. I wasn't even aware there was a problem.

Insert Text Here was really inspiring and a big part in my maturity. Thanks Man Carrying Thing!

For the people who think the text in description is a joke position that nobody actually holds, google anarcho-primitivism. There are people, including some philosophers (whose whole job it is to critically read texts), that think the invention of writing was a mistake. They proselytize this using the medium of writing.

Exactly the same with the music industry. More stuff is available now than ever and it's pretty easy to avoid music you don't like.

All things considered, I believe the internet has revived reading. Since I began using the internet in 2004, my English skills have improved. I'm not sure if this is the case with younger generations, but it's really tough to use the internet without understanding how to read. Previous generations simply watched television while printed mediums started to decline in the 1980s.

No, like no one cares much about reading, like the last time I read a book was maybe the maze runner trilogy in high school because I had to do a certain amount of reading or something then the last time I encountered a book via research was when researching the children’s teen novel series wings of fire by watching a random review of it and being shocked by its darkness and questioning how it’s a children’s story and why it had like a constant desire to put children through pain, death or weird hell scenarios that make me never want to meet the author because exploring “what if a 2 year old killed someone after having a life with nothing good in it” is kinda baffling and pointless, made even more baffling when you remember that you’re reading a book for elementary schoolers.

Sad to see yet another creator corrupted. If only Tiktok hadn't ruined reading

I enjoyed this video and it lived up to a truth in titles: if the title asks an edgy yes or no question the answer will be no because if it was gamechanging it would be in the title.

People saying the internet ruined the youths ability to read, clearly haven't seen the research that worldwide reading and literacy rates are increasing.

I was at a bookstore the other day and they had a whole section labelled “#booktok”. I cringed for a microsecond, then realised “well at least it gets people to read something” and carried on. It’s really not that deep.
