I’ve had some very expensive soldering stations and this thing is by far my favourite soldering iron… if this existed when I used to repair stuff I could of saved so much money 😂

4 packs of Pine64 designed Short tips came out today in all the other Tip styles. Basically short like the conical one that comes with the Pinecil V2, but in other kinds like BC2 bevel and D24 chisel.

An open source soldering iron sounded kind of pointless to me but after some thinking the fact that it could be coded to run a motor in tandem with the heating makes me think of a few industrial applications let alone the fact that it could run doom. I kinda want one now.

It still is cheap, I mean inexpensive for soldering iron the pine. Is it a hobby enthusiast iron or can you actually use it in production or let's say a big soldering job that you doing at home in your shop or in your basement or wherever?

I'm on the ledge about this versus a C210 tip, and maybe the TS101. But I saw people using the RST 191 thermometer for calibration. A crucial missing tool for these usb pencils. 15-25 online. I figure the C210 tips, smaller, get hotter faster, I dunno. I need a T12 or C210 IS bent angle for the little pi zero boards. But, found the Pinecil on Amazon for 40 minus accoutrements.
