Great shiphandling by her Master..!! No escort..!! ...Fresh water, shore fast ice....No picnic here..!!

Hard enough when you have 2 screws...!

Did that in Gulf of St. Lawrence in the spring, opening fishing ports while serving in Coast Guard...

By the way: Everyone wants to be Captain....Until they have to do the Captain stuff..!!

MV Sunnanvik is a cement carrier with a deadweight of 8, 672 MT. This vessel currently operates in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway.
MV Sunnanvik is the first cargo ship equipped with sails to navigate on the Great Lakes. The sails harness wind energy to provide additional thrust, contributing to lower emissions.
MV Sunnanvik is co-owned by CSL and SMT as part of the Eureka Shipping joint venture.

In Hamburg gebaut - sehr interessant

Warnings were given by authorities 4-5 days in advance of arrival on multiple FB fishing group pages. Anglers were warned of a bulk cement carrier and ice breaking activity in the area

Does this vessel have an ice class rating? Her bow has an unusual shape, looking like some ice breakers.
