On May 31st, 1993, Squidward Tentacles was assigned to act in the weekly talent show that is usually preformed by Spongebob Squarepants. On that fateful day, Spongebob was supposed to be there because of how good of a comedian he was, but he couldn’t show up. Because of how greedy Mr. Krabs thinking of how much money he could get from the act, built a springlock-style suit of SpongeBob. Squidward was instructed to wear the spongelock suit of Spongebob due to his absence. The spongelock suit functions like a regular but with sponge holes in place of a regular spring mechanism. But when trying to navigate the area around him, he suddenly felt one of the holes he had put his leg in suddenly lock up and violently cramp his leg, as well as amputating it in front of hundreds of families. The entire scene was a bloody blur, with Mr. Krabs dialing 911 and somehow breaking the phone by how hard he pressed the buttons and screamed into it. Medical help arrived at the scene around 12 minutes after Squidward’s leg was amputated, and now, the eys of the spongelock suit locked up on his head, choking him. He also had suffered several bone fractures. In the end, Squidward had come out of the suit half-dead, and after years of recovery, in 1999, Squidward could finally go back to work. This incident is one of the theories as to why Squidward hates Spongebob even after all the things he’s done for him. He’s suffered a near-death experience because of a stupid spongelock suit, and even the mere sight of him gives him PTSD. The spongelock suit has not been seen ever since, however, photos after the incident have circulated around the internet of the spongelock suit in a dumpster, with no eyes and bloody pants.
