Huge California wildfire continues to gain strength | AFP

A huge, fast-moving and rapidly growing wildfire in northern California is damaging homes and has forced more than 4,000 people to evacuate as firefighters battle gusty winds and perilously dry conditions, authorities have said. Fueled by a crushing heatwave, the so-called Park Fire -- the most intense wildfire to hit the state this summer -- has rapidly devoured nearly 240,000 acres (97,000 hectares) as of Friday night and is continuing to gain strength.

Damn, hate to see my State burning like that. That smoke you can smell out here in Vegas. Just came out to have my coffee on the patio and thought there had to be a fire somewhere in the neighborhood. But it's not. Everytime there's a big fire in Cali, we get the smoke here as well.

I was work las vegas, smelled smoke all over coming vents, from ca fires. Checked everywhere if it was fire work, no all smoke was coming outside. Seen alot of people coming ca, second fire fwy 15. Praying.
