here is how I see it. Microsoft: stay with pcs, don't touch anything else, Sony: stick with consoles and tvs, Nintendo: stick with  consoles also and  specialize in handhelds.

Personally I feel like Xbox partnering with Nintendo would be to Nintendo's advantage since it would decrease competition, since the PS2 was the winner of the generation.

Well at least Sega kinda said yes just to have Microsoft CE for Dreamcast. It's too bad Sega never use that OS to its full potential though.

Would be great if MS and SONY partner up.

Imagine. PS UI, with xbox features ( cortana, snap etc ) with Xbox Live. A store made by MS and SONY. All the exclusives on that system, Gears Of War, Uncharted, Halo etc etc.

So Nintendo tried to work with a Sony and pulled out, thus the PlayStation was born. They are responsible for heavy competition. Microsoft is still trying to get a foothold.

on paper this sounds like it would have been a neat partnership, but if business history has taught me anything that large companies partnering together on projects do not always maintain the status quo.
