You just said the thing that I thought I was alone in. I’ve (very fortunately) never really restricted my book buying. Randomly decided to give it a go in no certain terms just to see. And I’ve found I’m way way way more picky with what I choose now. It shocked me. Because when I switch genres, I’ll ignore what I already have and start getting new ones (a not great habit.) I’m also weird with the fact I buy new releases knowing I like for them to be on my shelf for a while and I like a lot of books to be out before starting a series. So now I’m holding off buying them at their new book price and waiting for them to be at least a little discounted. So I spend less and read them quicker once I do buy them. It’s been a positive experience so far. ❤

I'm sorry your childhood bookstore is closing :( I moved to Florida from Ohio, and by the time I went back, the used bookstore I went to as a kid had closed. I remember it being like a maze walking through, they moved the YA/Kids sections all the time and it was so hard to find anything, but the hunt was so thrilling. I got the original The Vampire Diaries books there in like 2005, back when they were still the tiny little mass market paperback sized books, before the TV show and the republishing. The childhood bookstore closure is truly one of the saddest moments :(
