The mistreatment of Inuit with tuberculosis in Canada
Показать описание
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has apologized for the federal government's treatment of Inuit with tuberculosis in the mid-20th century.
From the 1940s through to the '60s nearly half of Inuit in the eastern Arctic were separated from their families and taken to southern Canada for treatment of tuberculosis. They were often moved without their consent, often with no notice, never to come back. It's a painful subject for many Inuit. David Common travelled to Iqaluit to hear some their stories.
