Endo may not be as physical as Fabinho used to be for Liverpool or Like Rice is for Arsenal, but what he does bring is his positional awareness and game intelligence, reading the game well, and in recent games, he has demonstrated that he is nevertheless a destroyer. So, I disagree with your assessment of Endo.

Endo has been often dropping deeper to become a CB, allowing Trent to invert into a more forward position. Against Burnley, he was often seen moving between VVD and Quansah to create a back 3, and as the ball progressed forward, he would move back up to leave a back 2. Klopp has been very smart about his tactics and Endo is actually the best 6 for this system over Macca imo.

With Macca, he’s not used to play CB so Trent does a double inversion, moving first from RB to the midfield, then slowly drifts between Konate and VVD to recreate the back 3/4. This allows him to not play with his back to the defense and can has the entire pitch in front of him to pick out a pass. His assist in the Arsenal game was a great example of how Klopp took away Trent’s weakness in the midfield (receiving with his back to the defense) and highlighted his strength (long balls and great vision)

It’s actually super impressive how Juergen tries to use specific player attributes and add them to the overall plan

Mate when they got 5th position last season, Fabinho was there and made so many mistakes every game until he obviously lacked of confidence and the team relied mostly on the teenage Bajcetic that’s why Klopp didnt even persuade Fab to stay when the deal from Saudi came.

For Endo this season, he wasnt picked to start for many months actually so his tempo and the understanding in the game had lacked at the time, but now totally different from what you said in the clip he won almost all the tackles both air and ground despite being 178 cm man. Respect Endo for his contribution in December without him Liverpool wouldn’t be top of the league today.

I've loved watching the tactics evolve as the season has progressed. I think Endo has really found his role in the side now and gives us that ball winning cdm we need in the centre of the pitch. He was outstanding against Arsenal and particularly Odegaard.
These not only formational but also philosophy changes are what set Pep and Klopp apart.

Endo has been excellent over festive period. Took him a little time to get used to pace if game but he looks like the guy who captained Stuttgart and Captains Japan.
Big miss this January.😢

Some people doubted Endo's fit and ability but I knew he was going to be a vital piece once he fully settles in. We are definitely going to miss him this month.

Can't wait to see Robbo back in the team. I'm also glad that Jota has returned. Our front 3 (Diaz/Nunez/Salah) has always been issue with finishing and Jota could fix that.

They started using the box midfield with the inverted fullback last season with Fabinho in the team

It's my understanding Klopp was getting bored with his old team, front 3 played always same and if they tried something different, the results weren't there, back 4 was the same, Klopp tried to tinker in the midfield, but injuries and ineffectiveness always made him go back to the tried, tested and winning formula, this year, he's able to tinker with formations, experiment with different players in different positions and he's having fun again doing it.

Mate this is a really good video, enjoyed it! One thing I would add is that Liverpool aren't wed to the box midfield, they believe in fluidity so in some games you'll notice Trent at centre back or traditional right back spot when they are on the ball depending on the opposition (Villa earlier in the season, Arsenal and Burnley last night)
