In today’s episode of PhotoKitchen we are serving up not one, but three different cinema rig builds for the Sony FX3 and FX30. Two of these builds are handheld rigs, with the last one being a tripod mount.

All of these rigs serve different functions for different types of shooters, and with the added Sony 16-35mm T/ 3.1 Cinema Zoom, you will see the amazing power of these camera’s functions and features on display.

Some good ideas. I'm new to this but like to run my FX3 in minimal form, when I can. For a w/a there is merit in having a Sony PZ16-35 f4 lens. It's tiny, relatively affordable supports AF, super sharp (compared well to my GM mk1 16-35mm, albeit 1 stop less). I sold my GM but may buy new GM mkii (smaller, lightrr, sharper at 35mm end than original GM mki).

I like to use the Sony audio handle when I can (IMO a key reason for owning a FX3). I also use SmallRig extension handle and top plate for better ergonomics and strength. I dont like dummy batts (many reasons) so use a USB-c to USB-c to juice the Sony OEM battery.

I'm currently struggling with a good shkulder mounted rig approach - specifically a good reasonably priced, practical eye-cup monitor/EVF that's viewable when shoulder mounted, whildt still permitting full/easy control of manual focus, zoom etc. Any thoughts?

I would blame tilta for the cage/baseplate issue. While they make great products, they have a lot of proprietary parts that make it impossible (or really annoying) to use with some other brands.

picked up a few ideas, thx! You mention an external recorder, may I ask which?

That looks like a nightmare rig to run with, it doesn't know if it's a run and gun rig or a studio rig, nobody mounts a V-lock battery downwards, also at the front end of your video, picture and audio sync is out by a couple of frames, nice video though, what do you use it for.
