What is a dental cavity? How do we fill a dental cavity?

I'll go through what a dental cavity actually is and how we fill it at the dental office.

Dental cavities are basically the by-product of sugar being eaten by bacteria that cause a very acidic environment. This acidic environment eats away at your teeth.

The longer the acid is on your teeth the bigger the cavity will be.

Why is it that the fillings I got when I was a kid in the 60s/70s lasted 40+ years.. some are still in my mouth and all the ones from the 80s on have either had to be replaced or the tooth had to come out (fell apart) in about a decade?

i got 2 root canals and 4 cavities at around 4.5 years-old. My genes are so bad my mom was like "you and me we breathe and we get cavities"

Nice information! I feel so much sensitivity in my lower 2nd 2 jaws in right side so my dentist told me it is cavities and he filled with white filling but I feel so much pain and swelling in my gums and I was visiting 2 times a dental clinic and he said it is normal but it is 2 months now and I’m going again and he put it out all filing and apply soft type of filling in only one today is 5th day but I have a pain in my mouth and all over my right side of face and ears taking Tylenol and Advil, and I have make an appointment for another dentist for a opinion I think my dentist play with my insurance please please advise me dear I’m in my late 40s
