I can't believe I've been living without this gem for so long! It's too bad Weezer denied it, but at least they let him eventually use "Beverly Hills" in a polka

The world lost out on a great line in a polka medley. At least Weezer has finally seen the light. Kudos to Al for asking Weezer again despite being rejected once already.

I'm not a weezer fan, but i feel like i need to say something; weezer was new to mainstream, "Buddy Holly" was their second single ever and was burning up the charts. The reason they turned him down was for the same reason Eminem turned down al's request for a music video for his "Lose Yourself" parody when it was up for an oscar and five grammys. They just wanted it to be taking seriously and were scared it would hurt the songs credibility. Still, there is no truely good reason to say no to Al.

How many bands have felt they were too good for Weird Al only to watch as his fame eclipsed theirs? It’s been FIVE decades and Weird Al’s still going strong.

Wow, Bad Hair Day was definitely the album of people getting pissed at Al. This and the thing with Coolio.

I've only been to one of your concerts, it was the most memorable show I've ever seen. I was in the back until everyone left before your Yoda Encore, and I ran up front. AWESOME SHOW! Never thought I'd scream "Yoda!" so loud in my life.

The beat that plays after 0:17 is what I hear in my head constantly after the lobotomy I got in 09'

I love how much stuff like this Al puts up. Al really loves his fans.

Oh! I remember the Alternative polka. I had Bad Hair Day as a kid and many of those songs were my introduction to those bands and those songs, I didn't even realize Weezer was around then, I would have discovered them way earlier had they let Weird Al keep it in. Though in true Al style, being the coolest guy ever kept their relationship alive and he starred as Rivers Cuomo in their video for Africa.

Ya know what? I'm taking this clip. I'm taking this clip and editing it back into the song! Who's with me?

It's surreal to hear unreleased audio of Weird Al covering a song that was new then but is only now an internet meme. Like seeing the ghost of someone who hasn't been born yet.

The reason why rivers didn't want Weird Al to do it was because he thought all of his success was because of the Buddy Holly music video, and he didn't want to be thought of as a gimmick and Weezer to be thought of as some band that would fade away. So that's why he wrote Pinkerton, probably not because of Weird Al (maybe a little bit of it, ) it was because he thought everyone saw him as a gimmick.

Well, at least you got to do the lip-synching in the video for their cover of "Africa".
