As a listener who is a Chinese, I just wanna point out that the lunar calendar actually has been used up until today, most people from outside big cities still base their birthdays on this lunar calendar, like all my family members do. It is a bit head-scratching to have to figure out which day your birthday would fall on every year but quite fun as well.

Then one jurisdiction level above Yuzhou is the famous Xuchang or 许昌, the last capital of the Easter Han dynasty, one of the power bases of everyone’s favourite villain Caocao from the three kingdoms period. The point is that my hometown is loaded with historical sites and legends, be sure to drop by and say hi if ever you happen to visit Henan.

BTW, my hometown is 禹州 which is known for being credited as the capital of Xia dynasty. You probably would’ve guessed why it is called Yuzhou because the allegedly the founder and first ruler of Xia dynasty is Yu the great and this is the city where he reined over the land.

I think there was one King in Pre-Yin Shang period who was considered good. King Tai Wu...he was the 7th or 9th King. So far we only have stories from later historians, but there's little archeological items from his time.

Even more interestingly, the town where I live is Shenhou or 神垕, the capital of the gorgeously delicate and beautiful Jun porcelain. As a matter of fact, my dad himself is a hell of a Jun porcelain researcher and artist.
