Important note is that most backlight bleed is a result of too much pressure on the edges of your monitor. Laptops with thin bezels suffer from this. If you let the device warm up a bit, its usually enough to start reducing the light bleed since the plastic expands a bit. When I start mine cold I see a bit in the corner, but it goes away after it warms up. I would say mine is reduced by 80% or more once it warms up. of course every panel will be slightly different so your results will vary. Just dont return a monitor right away if there is bleed, give it a chance. A little bleed is better than dead pixels!

This is suprisngly very very usefull, just used it on my tv, it allowed me to go through all the settings, backlight, contrast, gamma and so on to get rid of the bit of bleed I was getting. Cheers.

I got my new 4k monitor and noticed that the backlight bleed on it was awful, so I sent it back and got a new one and there's no noticeable bleed. No wonder I'm always scared that everything I buy is a defect.

Did exactly what I needed it to, thanks. Testing out my new MG279Q IPS monitor; I only have minor bleeding in one corner, and that's with the brightness at 90, so I'm pretty happy with the panel. I bought the floor model and found out it's missing a cable organizer clip that attaches to the back. Probably worth just forgetting about for fear of getting a worse replacement.

Sorry, no stale jokes or sarcasm to share here. I sincerely thank you for posting this video, because you just saved me from spending $700 bucks on a new monitor. I assumed my current monitor was no longer any good simply because it's old, but after checking its clarity and backlight bleed (or lack thereof) I now realize my baby may be old, but she's doing just fine... so, I guess I'll just buy myself an Xrite Colormunki to calibrate my screen and get on with my life [with serval hundred bucks still in my pocket].

I currently have a 7 year old Samsung S27d590C, (27 inch 1080p 60hz) and this is my first time testing the Backlight Bleeding. I must say, it is noticeble on all corners, but to be completely honest I couldn't care less. I am not a video/photo editor, I'm the casual gamer and I must say this Panel still looks fantastic after all these years, never showed any issues but I'm currently looking for a new monitor. At least a 32 inch monitor with 1440p resolution. I'm thinking about buying an LG 34 Inch widescreen, but if you know a good monitor please let me know!

Don't forget to run this test at night with all lights off. Your screen also reflects quite a lot of light, even mat screens.
