Yes mate, ARM processors are everywhere, In Routers, Disk Controllers, Phones, Cameras, Set top boxes, TVs, Raspberry Pis, etc etc etc...

The internal CMOS battery has leaked - 100% in all of the A30x0 machines now if not removed.

I would assume this is a later A3010 issue with the ARM250 SoC. The CMOS battery is right next to the floppy drive and floppy interface. The battery acid has probably eaten through the tracks on the MOBO.

If you still have her open her up and take a look. It is possible to clear and neutralise the battery acid and solder new traces to repair the damage.

Nice video. I'm trying to find a nice A3020 myself. The A3020 was the one typically used in schools and came with a HDD interface. I think you can add a HDD interface to a A3010.

Sounds like the floppy heads had become stuck due to old grease going hard. The sound it made was the boot test failing to move the heads and may have caused the drive icon to vanish from the icon bar as it failed the test.

Unfortunately you will have to stick to the old 3 button ball mouse with these machines. If fact you must only use an acorn quadrature mouse. PS2 mice were only ever supported on their A7000 pc much later. The middle button is the most important one in risc os as it performs much the same function as the right click in other operating systems. Using an acorn without a middle button would deny you access to an applications menus.

You can get bits and bobs like mice (possibly Ps2 mouse adaptors) from CJE (cjemicros.co.uk). All their products are on the "prices" section, not the products section lol.

When you have a working middle button you can quit your apps by middle clicking on the apps icon to bring up is menu.

Probably just needs the floppy disk drive servicing, you might also want to get the internal battery replaced or removed as these can leak and destroy the motherboard.

Loved looking at your shoulder lol and yeah Atari and acorn kinda did have a ssd lol unfortunately it's almost impossible to buy fully working tec from this age.all eBay sellers are out to rip u off before the leaking battery inside destroys it

Oh and load up original quake use the latest mods and blast away to ease the pain....

Sounds like its time to rip out the innwards and put a Raspberry Pi 3 inside ;-)
