Loyal Theorists, today we discuss one of the year's most important games. One that FUNDAMENTALLY changed my life, and I know it will change yours… Trombone Champ. The seemingly silly and light rhythm-based game where you wield the MIGHTY trombone and play along to some non-copyright music ACTUALLY is hiding something MUCH darker under the surface. So GRILL up those hot dogs and settle in fellow tromboners, we have MUCH to discuss.

As someone who played the trombone in middle school, I can both attest to the hilariously awkward toots and simultaneous summoning of demons that comes with learning the trombone.

EDIT: Thanks for the 4k likes, everyone! With this, I can honestly say this Youtube comment was the most successful thing that became of my mediocre 3-year trombone career.

I love how Mat can take the most innocent looking games and make the most diabolical theories

matpat is the kind of person to look at a baby and say, "that's a serial killer right there"

I love how Mat is the type of guy to ask
"Is someone going to make this game creepy?" And not wait for an answer

As a trombone players this brings me so much joy. So glad to see such a noble instrument getting the respect it deserves.

You can’t hide from part 4 forever, Matpat.

Can't believe Mat missed his chance to say "laughing like baboons" at the end there.

Can’t say I didn’t expect this. What I didn’t expect is the return of the game theorists opening. Truly incredible.

I believe that matpat should do more merge mansion theories because they just rolled out with a ton of LORE

I think it's worth mentioning that there is also a tenor clef that is actually used in trombone music when we play in the higher register. Additionally, unless you have a specialized trombone you aren't going to play many notes in the treble clef range without difficulty.

I just wanna say MASSIVE PROPS to the editors. I loved the spin on the intro

Theory idea: How do you breathe in Hotland?

The lava will set the bridges on fire if the lava bubbles high enough, and the lava will produce smoke and suffocate you. The water will evaporate.
This is a question I've had for a couple of minutes now.

The effort the editors go too to make the intros cool is astounding and amazing. Kudos to the editors and everyone else on team theorist

As a musicologist, I appreciate this video and the accuracy of literally everything.
Edit: Mozart was an a**hole. He treated most vocal lines like wind instruments. He mainly believed that the voice and trombone were very similar because of how quickly they could move between notes (in his opinion). He also had a sister, Maria Anne/Nannerl, that he would take credit for her music once she got married, and she pretty much raised his kids.
