What Is a Gigabit Router? | Internet Setup

Today I want to talk about gigabit routers. And gigabit routers are basically routers like any other router.The only difference is the speed of the ports that connect the computer that they work with. So, there are basically three speeds with ethernet cables these days: 10 megabit per second, 100 megabit per second, and 1000 megabit per second, also known as a gigabit. So, when we're talking about a gigabit router, what we're talking about is how fast the ports are on the router. Now, should you buy a gigabit router? Yeah, if you can afford it. They usually cost a little bit more, but they do provide better speed. But you're only gonna feel the speed if your computer has gigabit ethernet in it. If your computer only has 100 megabit ethernet, which is the standard today, then you're not really gonna see a difference between a gigabit router or a regular router. But if you are doing a lot of file sharing between your networks, or gaming, I would go the extra mile and get a gigabit router because the difference is slightly noticeable.

i was wondering abouth this, my internet conection its so slow, but we also get conected 5 wireles ittmes at the same time at times, does this afect the speed? do i need to upgrade to a powerfull modem ? even tough mi internet plan its the same will i get faster conection?

I wish to understand which one is better in terms of speed -
Option 1: Buy ONT and a separate WiFi router
Option 2: Buy a single GPON router which has inbuilt ONT

Does option 1 have reduced speeds due to 2 standalone devices ?
I am having a 100mbps fibre plan.

I download at 950mbps on average, I'd say it's more than "slightly noticeable" over the 80-90 megabits I usta get b4 I had gigabit innernet.

The speed is also determined by the bandwidth you pay for

im having troubles finding info for the set up id like to have... the set up i hope for will not be hooked up to the internet. i hope to have 20 or more xbox 360's hook into link play. all playing the same game together. *chips and pop flys accross room*... the config could have a few hard wired together in each room but many will be wireless. I realy dont wanna hardwire my house and would like to be able to move around a bit. If i could avoid a central hub system it would be great.

You should have atleast 1gbps connection to get the benifit of a gigabit router
