The game was originally created by Sam Kass with Karen Bryla, not from the TV show BBT.. and according to an interview with Kass, the series producers did not originally ask for permission to use the game

The logic of Ro-sham-bo games is applicable to any collection of an odd number of objects/gestures. Each one beats just half of the others, plus some intransitivity requirement (i.e. Condorcet cycles¹). Three is the lowest, so easiest to understand, hence R.-P.-Sc. is the favourite among …common people.

The problem here is the weak logic of the rules. "Disproves"? "Vaporises"? "Smashes"? — Although, to be honest, "Paper covers rock" is also a bit weird. Cool challenge: try to find a better threesome.

With an Even number it can't work.
Kids in my school had invented "Well" as a fourth -– Paper closes Well. Of course it was not a fair game, since Well won two-to-one, as well as Paper. So you always played Paper against common (=halfwit) kids. Against smarter ones, if repeated game, you followed a reactive sequence, first a few Paper, then a 1/2 prob between Well and Paper. And against real smart ones, use game theory: Nash probabilities, not equiprobabilities. Exercise: compute the Nash probabilities.

¹ In voting systems examples, they usually show the Condorcet problem with three candidates « A beats B who beats C who beats A », but the real fun is with five, seven or more! Try it! Imagine Rock, Paper, Lizard, etc. as five candidates in an election.

You should at the very least, give credit to Sam Kass for inventing the game. Just saying "from the show Big Bang Theory" makes the impression that they came up with that, which is quite false.
