In this video, Dr. Sherri Zorn, a Washington pediatrician, discusses starting the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine series during the 9-10-year-old well-child visit to improve timely vaccination. A multi-level quality improvement intervention was conducted in two private pediatric clinics in western Washington between 2018 and 2022. Intervention strategies included provider and staff training, a recommendation script, policy changes, EMR prompts, and messaging resources. Dr. Zorn also notes the effect of the COVID-19 vaccination on HPV vaccination rates.

Zorn's is one of the initial articles on initiating HPV vaccination at age nine that will be published over the coming months and featured by the HPV Vaccination Roundtable. The complete collection will be a part of the Special Issues of Human Vaccines and Immunotherapeutics.
