If you plant too shallow, don't fret too much; Once the stalks are about a foot tall or more, mound up dirt around them about an inch or so, to compensate for the shallow seed depth.

There were some unpopped kernels of popcorn from my paper popcorn bag that I just threw out onto the ground and corn started growing! I'm a farmer now!

1. Start with fresh corn seeds for the best results.

2. Directly sow seeds approximately 1.5 to 2 inches deep and 4 to 6 inches apart.

3. Cover with soil, space your rows of seeds 30 to 36

inches apart.

4. Water your block of corn well after planting.

5. Corn stalks are sturdy and should not need staking.

My glass gem seedlings ventured out for a few hours today to start hardening off. Only doing a small block of 18 stalks. Growing it only for the sheer beauty of it.

I'll be sure to tell the rain not to fall on my corn from above.

I read that Boron levels in the soil also affects pollination, indicating trace minerals are as important as the macro nutrients. Also understand sulfur is an important element during the growth and plant development stages of corn.

If your doing small scale, less then 50 plants, I personally will go out and hand pollinate ( bend over the tables and rub it on the sills) yeah it's a little extra work, but it's well worth it in the end

Nice tips so helpful thanks. On watering I thought we can water once a week as we have been doing is that not enough? Since they are drought resistant sort of.

Whaaattt?? Each individual strand of corn silk is pollinated? That's crazy! Well, I should have watched this before planting my corn because I planted them in a straight row in my backyard.😣
