My father was a WW2 veteran in the European theater. He was in the US First Army 3rd armored division. He was in the battle of the bulge and the drive through Germany and had five battle stars. He was the only survivor of his tank crew of five when they were hit by a German Pak 40 anti tank gun in the Ruhr valley in Germany. He was full of shrapnel, they took out the larger pieces and left a lot of splinters and slivers, he returned to his unit in three weeks. He continued the war until it ended and stayed in the army in Germany until early 1947. He dealt with this shrapnel coming to the surface all over his body until his death at 68 in March of 1993. We call these men and women the greatest generation and they are but I called him father. You all have a wonderful evening and weekend. Happy Memorial day to you all.
