It's from either Ellie or Joel's point of view. It's written to be interpreted from both sides, or even as a conversation between them both. It's up to the listener what meaning they take from it. Personally it feels more from Ellie's side to me mostly, but I deliberately left it ambiguous so it could also represent Joel :)

The middle section (move like a shadow) does have what I believe is called a diminished fifth (my music terminology isn't the best) but yes, it is the interval that used to be referred to as the devil's note, due to it's creepy, un-nerving sound

Thank you, I love when people pay that much attention to lyrics that I put a lot of thought into. I wanted that final line to be open to interpretation as it is meant to be something that could come from either character, about their relationship with the other one. TLOU was my favorite game this year and left a big emotional impact on me, it was a very inspiring story :)

I rarely, if ever, saw so much emotion, so much sadness and also so much depth packed into one single and not even verly long line, along with the entire plot of one of the greatest games there ever was. Your writing is world class.

This song is just staggeringly good. The game really got me hooked and emotionally invested in the story, and this song does it perfect justice. 10/10, miracleofsound. This is one my of favourite musical works from the moment I heard it.

I waited 3 years to play this game and avoided spoilers like the parasitic fungus. When I listened to this song I didn't have the video on the screen. I just finished the game yesterday. It was well worth the wait and this song took on a new meaning too.

Agnostic to me is the only belief that contains no hubris. It is not a creed or a code I live by, it is simply a result of me taking the evidence (or lack of) in front of me and thinking about it. I'd love to be religious - it seems like such a luxury & makes life easier to make sense of. But my mind won't allow me to believe in things that have no proof, nor to dismiss abstract ideas I cannot prove to be false.
