Some guides on how to perform penetration testing on your own systems would be nice, so let's say I wanted to setup my own mail server or web server and I wanted to make sure it's locked down well enough for public access.

Great overview, thanks for showing us the bigger picture first. I'm new to Kali Linux and interested in security but I've been apprehensive to learn mainly because I feel like I'll mess something up with my software and make matters worse. So I guess I don't fully understand the idea about Kali Linux. Do "attacks" on your own network just expose weakness or do they actually do damage that must then be repaired?

I used to use backtrack 5 a number a years ago(worked pretty well)... stopped using it when I got into univeristy and required many civil engineering software. I might get back into linux now that im out. Thanks for the video!

I've a few month old copy of Linux Magazine which has an article on encrypting the kernel but doesn't really go into huge detail on the benefits/downsides for the common user. Is it worth setting up as yet another layer of headache for anyone making it past the router, or are the downsides going to make network life a pain for the user?

Since Kali Linux is an open source OS that anyone can download, is any data fed anywhere that is kept for ethical hacking purposes? Or is it all anonymous work?
