Migraine is a multifaceted neurological disorder that goes through various stages, with the pain phase lasting between four to 72 hours, according to Dr. Melissa Ann Moore, a neurologist with USF Health Headache and Facial Pain Center. However, the symptoms of migraine extend far beyond the headache itself.

Migraine sufferers often experience light sensitivity, nausea, and concentration issues, which can persist even after the pain subsides. The post-pain phase, known as the "migraine hangover," leaves patients feeling unwell and struggling with cognitive tasks like information processing and multitasking.

Interestingly, symptoms such as sensitivity to light and sound, as well as nausea, can manifest even before the onset of pain. Some patients may also experience auras, most commonly visual, lasting between 5 and 60 minutes.

A single migraine attack, considering all its phases and lingering symptoms, can last over a week, making it a highly disruptive and debilitating condition for those affected.
