As an ISTP I show my affections for people by helping and trying to solve their problems. I may not be the most verbally affectionate... but I only really do things for people I care about.

That was great. Agree with 100% of your observations. I'm pretty sure my neighbour is an ISTP as every minute he is not at work he is working on his cars, his motorbike and his lawnmower. He literally lives in his garage! As an INFP I find this obsession with machines and tools a bit odd and he seems to have no friends, but he always has a job and seems very contented so who I am I to judge! 🙂

Myself being an ISTP, I think ISTPs can be very easy to misdiagnose as having autism.
1. Stronger preference to systems over humans
2. Not wanting to force interactions
3. Does not clearly/directly express emotion.

ISTP's are known for being connected to the present moment more than others. This is why if an ISTP shares time with you by listening or making something for you, it shows that they care. What more valuable to them than their space in the present. ; )

Actor James Dean was an ISFP not an ISTP. Watch him in Rebel Without a Cause and you will see his Fi dominant function and Se parent function. Se parent function makes both ISFP and ISTP men cool looking in a leather jacket. Michael Jackson made the red leather jacket cool im the 1980's and he was an ISFP.
