They can't just decide who they believe. They need to conclude it was proven beyond reasonable doubt. "What motive does Cohen have for lying?" That's not a grownup basis for conviction. Cohen's literally a Democrat. He could have his career resurrected if this conviction occurs, and would have fewer prospects if this conviction doesn't occur.

Kristen Gibbons Feden did an excellent review. I particularly liked her observation on the campaign finance law being the operating code at the time Trump committed those acts.

I hope the prosecuting attorneys are as smart as she is.

Every parent has dealt with a child's attempts to escape responsibility and what they'll say and do to deny it, and if there are siblings involved, the everlasting blame game. Basically, the defense is stating that, for no reason at all, Donald Trump contacted AMI right before the election. There would be no reason to contact them if this was the standard practice. The defense is also claiming that there was no reason for the celebratory party in the White House afterwards. Yup, that checks out to me. Note the sarcasm.
