When the US Bombed 'McNasty'

June 5, 1944. In the skies over Normandy, Jake McNiece, a demolition expert in the US 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, flies in on his first combat mission with his men. Painted in Choctaw battle paint and sporting a mohawk he's already a legend in the soldiers' barracks and a headache for the officers. He's flying in the night before D-Day and his target is a strategic bridge behind enemy lines. Nothing goes to plan, but 'McNasty' is not going to let a plan get in the way of a good fight.

Please cover more of McNasty’s story! He fought in Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge, and helped Patton’s Army. He’s one of the only paratroopers to complete 4 combat jumps in WW2!

My great uncle was apart of the filthy 13. He passed away during operation market garden. This was pretty cool!!

What's astonishing is that when the bullet hit the parachute release, it meant it was hitting so close to the person. Instead of fearing for their own life or feeling a short relief realizing he just escaped death, they rushed to jump out to stay closer to the brothers. Damn, that's intense!

Fun note about Jake McNeice, he is still a private, not even a PFC, a base private leading a platoon of higher ranking men because nobody can deny that he can fight, he just fights about everything, he got in a fist fight with the Chow Hall sargent in airborn school because they wouldnt give him butter fir his toast.

I'm 82nd Abn Field Artillery from '83. My brothers all appreciated the knowledge gained from the elders.
I was honored to be accepted as an assistant to the trainer at Robin Sage and I had so much fun with that.
The part where they had "bouts of action" took me back to one particular night.
I can't talk about it though. In fact I may already have said too much.

Oh look! A squirrel.

I thought the challenge was 'Flash' and the counter-sign was 'Thunder' not the other way around. Also, when McNasty fixes his bayonet to his rifle, he's using a German M98 sawback bayonet instead of the M1 bayonet.

Anyone else who was there when yarnhub made these silly 2d cartoons about the red baron and things like that? The transformation and the way the channel evolved as well as the graphics quality increase is amazing! Good job guys, keep it up!

The Dirty Dozen (2 movies) inspired me to join the military in 1972. My Mom wouldn’t sign for me to join the Army, but she did sign for me to join the Navy (I was 17) thinking it would be safer. I was assigned to go Vietnam and joined a River Patrol boat crew as a forward gunner. I was all gung ho until my first combat. It was that fateful day when I realized that I wasn’t anything close to the heroism of the movie. However, my boat captain was a bright First Class Petty Officer. He had been in-country for 10 months, and he was a serious and distinguished fella. My 13 months was really eye opening, because we hardly ever saw the enemy. I found out a lot about myself during my deployment. The biggest thing was that I was not a hero. I do hold a very distinctive honor while there….no, it wasn’t a Metal of Honor. Nope. But I’m very proud of the fact I hold the record of cutting down more trees on the banks of rivers than any other American. Unofficially of course. I expended over 19, 000 rounds from twin 50 cals while there. Got several splinters of fiberglass while they are on patrol, I never ask for a metal for a damn splinter. Sorry to waste your time with my experience. This was an outstanding video. Thanks for keeping alive the feats of our Greatest Generation. 👍🇺🇸
