Yes!!!! We were serious about our school supplies and backpacks in grade school. The kids with the coolest folders, pens, pencils and cases were the coolest. When we were in middle school and high school it was all about the trapper keeper

I remember in 1990, hadn't turned 9 yet. I had convinced my mom to go into this "fancy" shop next door to the grocery store. Everything there was so expensive and the entire store smelled like candy. I'd saved a bunch of money from chores and different special occasions like birthdays and Christmases etc. I walked into this shop and I spotted a Hello Kitty one! I'm not sure what they're supposed to be called but the shop keeper said it was called a trick box. Of course I had to have it. I used my money to pay for it and felt so pleased with myself. I took it to school and I was the only girl in my class with one. It was so satisfying to push all the different buttons. But it was also a little loud. Definitely not something you could fidget with without people noticing. This was also the year that slap bracelets were trending. 😂

OMG yes!! the swiss army cases!!! I had the Aladdin one and Little Mermaid one!!! I can still feel the magical vinyl "puffyness"!! Also, the short pencil dilemma was so real! They never had room for full length pencils! lol
