After a few listens I changed my mind. Black is a song thats been with me since its release. You dont hear “Black”. You feel it. You can feel it. She did do it perfectly.

*I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life. I know you’ll be a star in somebody else’s sky, but why can’t it be mine.* those are probably the heaviest lyrics about heartache you can ever hear.

Thank you for this. Black was one of my father's favorite songs, and recently he passed away due to corona virus infection. I only wish he could hear this masterpiece

"And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was everything" one of many heart wrenching lines in this song.

I never knew how heartbreaking the lyrics to this song were until today.

I played this song on repeat for a girl named Misty Hoshaw in1995 when I was 15. I've grown up now, but everytime I hear this song I still feel the crushing loss of the day we broke up. It's such a magical and lonely kind of nostalgia.
Thank you.

It starts out... the music. That single note on the piano. And that voice. My GOD that voice... from another time. And then the rest of the instruments. And at first you think "okay, this is an interesting rendition" and lift a single eyebrow as it continues. Intriguing. By the start of the chorus you're invested. Okay, I'll bite. What gives? The cymbal taps and the strings, and that heavenly voice. And as Cortine grabs you and won't let go for the end of the first round of the chorus and the hint of power is gone in a rush for the quiet of the bass and piano note plunks. And then the angel comes back. Walks next to you. It's okay now. Walk with me? Oh wait... twisted thoughts that spin.. round my head? What is this? This... maelstrom of emotion... where are we going?! Again?! My heart! And it builds. And builds. The vibrato. The love gone bad! Tattooed all I see! All that I ammmm.... and quiet again. Doo-doo-doot-dooo, dooo-doot dooo.... wait. Here we go again! A star... in somebody else's sky! WHY?! WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME?! And suddenly it's all over... standing alone again on the beach of life while the roiling emotion of ocean retreats once again.

Thank you PMJ and Cortnie for the ride. Absolutely exquisite.

The original is one of my favourite songs ever. 1m40s in and I'm already impressed, this is outstanding. Thank you for this beautiful rendition.

This song is one of the hidden gems of the Grunge era. PMJ, you've taken that gem and polished it to a magnificently melancholy sparkle for a new generation. Heartache never sounded so good. Thank you...be safe, keep warm, stay cool.

I'm just trying to wash dishes but I guess I don't need the tap, I'll just use my tears. LOVE THIS. My favorite song

4:51 Such an elegant way to break my heart. Those lines still hit hard regardless of genre. And the ending was just perfect.

I've watched all the postmodern jukebox videos. This is the best one. They're all good. Some better than others. But this one, this one's phenomenal. And the singer is outstanding.

My skin is vibrating, my eyes are tearing, and my ears are drowning in the rise and fall of her voice, an absolute angel.
