What's so remarkable about this movie is that it captures paranoid awareness perfectly. Paranoia leads one to believe all manner of ridiculous things but it is precisely this ability to entertain the ridiculous that allows one to perceive truths that no one else is willing/able to see. In other words, the scattershot perception of paranoia rarely hits the bullseye, but it hits the bullseye nonetheless.
