Anathema - RC Sproul

Over a series of messages and throughout his lifetime, RC Sproul of @ligonier consistently taught that Jesus became impure, sin incarnate, grotesque, obscene, cut off from the Father who couldn't look upon such a mass of concentrated sin, and that Jesus was damned by God, anathema, cut off and cast into outer darkness.

This is not only refuted in passages like Psalm 22 and 1 Corinthians 12:3, but results in numerous Christological and Soteriological problems, splitting the Trinity and pitting the Father against the Son, corrupting and destroying the very nature of God... not to mention distorting the loving, selfless redemptive work of God for us.

Why did RC make such blasphemous claims? Because he was being consistent with Penal Substitutionary Atonement and Federal Headship, rather than Scripture.

Some may object to our criticism, noting Sproul passed away in 2017. However, his teaching is still widely circulated today and is distorting the Gospel and work of Christ. Should we endanger the living out of respect for one who passed away; one who taught blasphemy? No.

Bashing a good teacher (who didn't get everything right, sure) with a foolish misrepresenting song is disgraceful.

As a fairly new Christian, I read RC Sproul's book Chosen by God. And although I didn't call myself a Calvinist. I was a Calvinist. I believed it hook, line and sinker.
Oh, how grateful I am that I was able to break free from this incredibly wicked misrepresentation of God and false teaching.

I maintain (and everyone tells me I'm being mean and un-brotherly for saying it) but this kind of "Doctrine" (TULIP, EDD, PSA) comes about from a fundamental misunderstanding and wrong-think about Who God is. If you believe in these blasphemous doctrines then YOU DO NOT KNOW GOD.

i have been a christian since i was 21 im 72 now went to Calvary Chapel when it was just a big circus tent... went to a charismatic seminary when i was in my late 20s... i have studied theology for im sure longer than u have been alive... reformed theology and free will positions.. and i did believe in arminian theology.. its the most popular postion in the church today.. in line with the Catholic church ... u should read John Owen a deep Puritan theologian Purtian writers were deep thinkers thats for sure... enjoy ur day

Well i think ive finally defeated calvinism in my heart. I found a video on YouTube the other day of a guy who puts it all beautifully. Mind if i link the video? I think youll really enjoy it. It awsome cuz it also takes all works out the gospel and puts my salvation entirely on Christ. Which i love cuz i know i couldn't be saved any other way cuz id mess it up. Calvinism just back loads my works into the gospel any way.
