I'm going to talk about my experience with trying to sell AI-generated art on Etsy. As an AI enthusiast and artist, I was excited to explore the intersection of these two worlds. However, as I began listing my creations on Etsy, I encountered some unexpected challenges.

Are you sure it is not against Etsy policies to sell AI? They said in their policies that it must be hand made crafted or draw by the seller

I have a script which i use in photoshop, i just put my images into a folder, select the sizes i want and it resizes all images into 300dpi files, auto creates all the Mockups and just spits everything out, all i need to do then is post each listing and make the PDF to send for download when someone buys something.

Every image that I have created, no matter how good it is, it doesn't even come close near a real artist, for me personally, all of these images, feel hollow, empty, lifeless. There is no story to it, it doesn't have any meaning, even if it's perfect, it isn't perfect.

Considering the other aspect of selling AI generated Art on ETSY, you should also acknowledge the fact that you do not own the copyright of the images created on Midjourney for example as far as I understand it. The images created are royalty free in the fact that Midjourney or the AI or the developers do not claim ownership. So you can sell a Tshirt with the image on. But if you see another store selling a Tshirt with the same image and they're making more money than you, you can't turn around and say 'hey that's my image'. If you spent months learning all the perfect promts and then hours doing trial and error before a final finish off in photoshop, you might be quite perturbed that someone else just took that from you. Likewise if you sold the image as a digital download, you wouldn't then be able to stipulate what customers can and can't do with that.

Etsy takes about a year to get real consistent sales. You are correct in that it's a long term play. (That's why most fail at it because they quit way too early). Love your prompts dude, keep it coming! :)

move with the times or get left behind. or, a more positve outlook,

remain a specialist with your preferred medium. or learn new traditional mediums to diversify yourself.

Remember that real artists have spend years and years to improve their skills and “AI artists” expect to sell art without any skills/doing anything? That’s not fair isn’t it? At least learn something to create your own art IMO

it's essentially a job where you invest a year and then it might pay off assuming market does not become oversaturated :D

Very good job, how you prepare the color to sell the digital file to anyone. Do you work with the adobe rgb space and then when exporting you pass it to cmyk? Or do you directly work the file with the cmyk space? Suppose the customer will buy the file and have it printed at their nearest print shop. Thank you.

There's an analogy that works to explain where AI will take us. A chair that's mass produced is cheaper and can be objectively good quality. A chair made by a carpenter will be more expensive but will also have that something else. It will be truly unique. Hand drawn art will be worth more in the future because the "race to the bottom" part of the market will be gone. Mid and high level artists will adapt and thrive.

I see the potential with Digital Art but I feel like everyone is just jumping on the Train but will soon fall off as most usually do. I feel like I am struggling how to use my unique art and uploading to Etsy using correct DPI and Ratios using programs like PhotoPea /GIMP. There is a big learning curve.

I foresee true artist's work will become more valuable. Artist's future is secure. They will sell less work, but more expensive.

I think AI can speed up things— but it’s not going to get rid of artists

Possibly Freudian slip, but nevertheless a telling moment 9:50 "...from someone who is not really into art..." Let me stop you right there. Selling a.i. art is ethically dubious if for no other reason than that it is the equivalent of selling knock off hand bags in an alley way: some people might be duped, some might buy knowingly, but make no mistake, it is not real. Referring to yourself as "someone who is not really into art" but who profits from selling fakes, is just so absurd and sleezy.

This is the same era when template websites popping up selling layouts and photographs, true artists will go around it to make things work. Same issues with people “stealing” Picasso arts this era new artists. Great discussion video, I have the same experience as you

What do you wear a new business owner you or a new kid on the block people have to find you. You have to be careful about advertising and Facebook groups and social media groups because you might be considered a bot. The Betty artist groups on social media will literally have you bad or your Facebook account bad as well if you try to promote artificial intelligence art.

They view it as a disrespect to their skill set because it took them years to get to where they're at. I don't think many of the real artists know that Air does not click and play like chat GPT

Anything ai arts you are selling on etsy, customers can do the same. What value do you bring? why do you think the customer wants to buy a random cat dancing image?

Art is in the mind, not in your ability to take it from your mind and recreate it with paint, or ink, or pencils, or photography. I've yet to produce a piece that I would sell just for profit. Because, for years, people have been reproducing art to be sold. This is just another tool...the ideas and thoughts behind the art, are very original.
