Both phones are hugely capable, the MkV is just much more in line with Alpha series camera's and its better late than never right!
I still find the zoom a little soft and occasionally the colours look melded together.
Focus peaking, focus zoom are my two favourite new features.
Bokah definitely has better subject separation!
New filters are awesome on both cinematography and Camera .
Ive been out and about over a week with the 1MKV and I am incredibly impressed!
The new sensor is really making a difference as is the better processing in default modes.

1 V is significantly improved and the sensor makes a definite difference. I use the alpha cameras and the V output is closer to actual camera output than most smart phones. I definitely do NOT want Xperia ending up like the other smartphones with over aggressive processing to cover for the small sensor deficiencies. Night shots need to look like night shots, not day shots.

The 1V is def an upgrade. The blur effect on pics is def better. The ai zoom is def better on lol. The quailty of photos is a big improvement! The cam app got some subtle love better than staying stagnant. I know its a smartphone for a specific type of user but sony devices are a great choice all around. Cheers brother.

I just received my Xperia 1 MK V in silver. I like the video. I only disagree on the whether Sony needs to make the phones accessible for the masses. I don't believe the masses will spend £1, 300 on a Sony flagship. maybe, Sony uses the V MK V or 10 MK V models to cater for the masses and reserve the flagship model for creators and those who wish to learn how to use the advanced apps and make more use of the phone's capabilities

Marquis Brown often doesn't know what the hell he is talking about regarding certain things. I always get the impression that he only looks at certain devices at a rather surface/superficial level. And he is rather guilty of that with Xperia phones.

Nice one thanks. Just got this phone and the video I am getting from it is godlike. Cheers for the tips. For the camera in basic auto, mine seems to overexpose most shots. Hoping Sony dial that back a bit in future updates, as it does not remember my manual exposure settings between uses.

I like what somegadget guy channel was saying regarding the Xperia 1V he put it best as if you just want to take a picture and put the phone back a mid ranger will do but devices like the Xiaomi 13 ultra and Xperia 1V are pro level tools that fit specific need and shooting style not an average consumer device.

I was struggling to pick the 1V vs Pixel 8 pro. I was leaning towards the 1V for the camera, 3.5mm jack and SD card expansion. But 2 years of support stopped me buying the 1V and went with the 8 Pro. Why not sony provide longer support for their flagship phone is beyond me.

I really appreciate the in-depth review and testing, but I feel like they just keep duct taping things on for years now. These are all just minor tweaks. They really need a refresh of the design and software to make it more accessible to the "average joe", as MKB correctly indicated. Joe does not want to spend hours learning custom menus and settings (which change every year), nor to spend $1400. They just want to launch the camera and take a good pic. I've had 4 Sony phones btw.

Hey Troy, if that is your name (?), thank you for a great video. If I should come up with a wishlist for a future Xperia 1 VI, it would be to use the Xperia to introduce the user to photography. You are very experienced, when it comes to the exposure triangle, but what about people who are just starting out with photography or videography? Many reviews of this Xperia 1V says that it is a phone for creators, so why not have a built-in guide to begin learning photography and videography? How to set up the camera for success, sort of speak? The iPhone 15 Pro (Max), the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Google Pixel 8 Pro are consumer devices, both for content, but also photography. I have had these phones, but a dedicated Pro Mode mimicing a professional camera has only been available on the Xperia phones. Giving the user the tools and means to express themselves creatively will not only expand the YouTube community, it will also be a gateway for people to experience the potential that Sony Xperia phones has to offer. Thank you again for a great channel. Hopefully more people will follow you in the future.
