Thanks for your videos. I noticed something missing in this. After you go through booting the device into the control type and network settings you talk about changing to DHCP on. You then cut to selecting scan. During your video edit you left out depressing the select button on channel one. That gets you to the next step where you can select scan from the rotary 8 knob. Looks like when you edited the video you cut that little bit out. FYI for anyone using this video to get their learn on.

Joining the X Touch party lVERY late.... did Behringer ever take your suggestions about DCA's etc... on the unused buttons?

I am sorry for a very late question, i've been using my laptop with a touch screen to control xAir edit program and all of its Buses, channels and DCA's for Twitch stream monitoring and control. I've always wanted to get x-touch, but there is limited documentation online on the features i am mostly interested in. Is it possible to assign particular channels to any of the x-touch faders? Like Channel 1 to channel 1, Channel 3 to channel 2, channel 7 to channel 3 and so on? or is it not costumisable like that? For example i can see DCA's all the way in the end, can i move them and assign them to particular channels i want in the beginning, or is it not possible?
Since i am mostly using stereo inputs and most of inputs are chained multiple stereo channels for game audio and music signals, i have a lot of channels being occupied and chained in xAir edit program, so my question is - is it possible to assign those "chained" stereo channels to just 1 single channel on X-touch so that i dont have a second channel of x-touch being occupied?

This video has been up for quite a while, so this comment way well be very old news. My apologies if I'm re-addressing a dead issue.

Overall, a nice overview, but I think you have an operational misconception which could adversely affect other expectations regarding functionality in general. When you refer to the "user banks" that you would like to have accessible from the Xtouch: those are not "user banks" in the mixer to be accessed and/or controlled, they are user-configurable channel layouts in Xair Edit, which is an internal feature of the Xair Edit software on the computer. The Xtouch controller is NOT controlling the Xair Edit software on the computer, it is controlling the Xair mixer hardware, which has no knowledge of those software layouts.

It's really a question of signal flow, specifically regarding the flow of control signals rather than audio pathways. The Xtouch controls the Xair mixer. The Xair Edit software also controls the Xair mixer. Both controlling devices initiate parametric changes in the mixer hardware, and they also respond to parametric changes reported by the mixer, regardless of which controller initiated those changes. The Xtouch is not controlling the Xair Edit software, nor is the Xair Edit software controlling the Xtouch.

Each controller sends and receives signals between itself and the mixer. How any individual controller - hardware or software - presents its user interface and the layout and configurability thereof is not dependent upon the mixer hardware nor any other controller which may be present in the network. Your suggestions are interesting, and would have merit if the Xtouch was purely a device designed to control the Xair family of mixers, but it's not. The Xtouch is primarily a generic controller using the HUI/Mackie protocols, designed to send/receive controller messages which make it a viable tool to control a number of DAW software packages as well as any hardware devices which are, or can be, configured to respond to those protocols and signals.

What you are asking for essentially requires the Xtouch controller to be nothing more than a hardware interface to the Xair Edit software; effectively making it a controller by which to control another controller. I'm very glad that the Xtouch controller is much more capable and flexible than that.

A couple of notes on the video. You talk about the Mac Midi too, but don't really explain the PC version at all. In order to load the firmware upgrade, you must be in the right mode. You don't really talk about setting that up. I tried about 4 times before i figured it out. I was about 1 minute short of calling for support when I figured out the right sequence to load the new version. Also, can you have an overlay sheet somewhere?

Following your instructions. Had to go to a third party because I'm not a MIDI expert and using MIDI-OX took some work. Thankfully someone took the time to post decent instructions. So I got the firmware updated.

Now I"m attempting to connect to my XR18 as you're showing here, at the step that says "once that's done you can hit scan by pushing down the rotary on number 8" - my rotary number 8 says "LCD 40%" and pushing down it does nothing at all.

Can anyone explain what actually is supposed to happen here? And while they're at it, any other instructions or links to instructions that work?

I Updated, to ver 1.15, then selecting the network mode, and console get's IP from router (10.0.1.2) but in first channel is wait.. and don't appear "scan" in 8-s channel display and can't connect with mixer ?! - Any idea ?
