While signed into any Google service online, click on your profile picture and then click on Add account. This will allow you to sign in with a second (or third, or fourth, or…) account. As you switch between Google services, check your profile picture to be sure you’re using the account you think you are. If not, click on that picture to select (or add) the correct account.

Two browsers is the best option.

Also, Firefox has an Addin that will allow for private tabs, eg do not share info. With the other tabs.

Finally, you can link to one Gmail on the computer and another on a phone or tablet.

I also use the multiple browsers technique. Simple and easy. Plus I use a browser that I keep plain for test purposes and where I can clean the caches to restore a clean browser.

Leo, could you copy Google Docs and Sheets files from one Google account to that second Google account to act as a backup ?

My proffered way is to create 2 or more profiles within the same browser such as Edge or Chrome. That way, the same browser has separate bookmarks, cookies, and settings for each profile without the overhead of using multiple browser brands.

Great video, thanks! How would you manage this on a Chromebook? Another question I have is what is the best way to use multiple accounts on an android phone? Apps etc are 'coupled' to the main Google account, doesn't it?

I do everything in Chrome, but my second account opens in a separate window and is coloured very differently.
So far I haven't had any disasters!

Leo, I wonder if using Windows built-in virtual desktops (the Task View option, located on the task bar) would be helpful?
I would test it myself, but I do not use those google services.

I suspect that your browser's cookies will not care which desktop you are using (you still might get logged in to the wrong google service, if using only one browser).
But having Edge in one desktop, and Brave in another desktop, etc, would perhaps make for easier management of the various services (less clutter per desktop).

And you can name each desktop, making it unlikely to trip yourself up.


@3:44 -- Also, I believe that if you do not have your browser save your passwords, then you might be able to better manage each google service. If your browser is not logging you in, then you will should be asked for login credentials. That will ensure that you do not confuse which account just got logged in, because you are actually logging in each time.

That is a bit less convenient. But the benefit is that you are far less likely to use the wrong account with a particular google service.
And with a password manager, the additional login steps should not be a burden.

This is good info to know but... I use a chromebook and (for now) am limited to Chrome. I also limit myself to Chromeos so I don't have linux, etc available. When I need a second browser I usually start an incognito window with the hope that it'll keep things like cookies isolated from my normal Chrome tabs.

I do that with FB as I separate family/friends from online friends. I do have a couple of people on both, but you do need two different FB accounts. I know it's against the T&C, but it makes it easier not to murder my older brother.
