You do not need to agree, or believe someone else's opinion to be respectful. Yet it is the same way back that those being respected via being listened to respectfully, should listen respectfully back, and know how to respectful disagree. It was done in the past a debate is just that, two people/groups listening to each other's opinions an giving their own take on it in a respectful manner.
