I love this song so much!!
I was born in 82 and this kind of music (retrowave) give me always the feeling of good old days. Timecop1983, The Midnight, FM 84, Kalax, Le Cassette and so on are those artists who are able to make 80s music sounds more 80s than in these days. It‘s so intensiv, so good vibrations even at sad sounds.
Sorry for my possible mistakes but i‘m german living in Germany!

It is 1989.

She dances through the wildflowers on the Hill where the electrical towers move off into the distance, eternal and silent. You sit with your arms on your knees, hiding your smile behind your flannel shirt, a size too big. She sings, not hearing the words, not knowing that they don’t mean anything yet, not knowing that she loves you, not knowing that you love her, not knowing that you want her to love you, and not knowing that you don’t know how to tell her. So you let her dance in the light.

The sun falls now in this secret valley where you come with your friends to do so much of what you’ll never do again: nothing. You know that as that single faraway star falls below the horizon, it’s taking something, and you can feel it go so slowly, and together you reach out for it, but you can’t find it, can’t pin it down. But it’s there. For a time.

She laughs. The days are empty. You waste them, drinking in the wonder of life, faux-anguished, teens in constant outrage, overflowing with angst about some drama or another. And yet, you have no idea what you really have. You have no idea that one day, you’d shave years off your future if you could only go to that valley one more time, and sit among the flowers, and watch her dance to that song.

But you’re there now, in that late sun, and in the golden hum of potential and limitlessness, before violence and darkness and loss changed the world. You breathe through the softness of your shirt, and pass your hand through the grass. She checks to see that you’re watching, though she knows that you are. You’re watching so hard that you memorize her shape. The wind blows harder, and your hair is a mess. She teases you, runs her hand through your hair, and you pretend to hate it, lightly push her away, but your heart thrills silently, and you’ll take whatever you can get. She dances.

You don’t know yet—how could you?—that the years pass away, and that so, too, will this place in the valley. Nor that, in the cold light of the new reality that somehow finds everyone, one memory alone will soften the edge in your voice and the age in your eye: a warm, empty summer afternoon in that field of endless youth; a beautiful, teasing smile; and the silhouette of a perfect girl dancing in the wind of a time gone by.
