If i had to choose one song that embodied the 80s (that was not of that decade) this would be it.

Hearing these hypnagogic synth rhythm creates an odd feeling in me. Like, I never lived my life through the neon 80's. I was still a distant twinkle in my parent's eyes but I formed certain aspects surrounding the western culture of that time from the VHS tapes of 80's and 90's TV series my parents recorded.
So this song, which I assume is about making up, immerses me in an 80's drama show where a glam metal-head boyfriend and a colorful punk girlfriend are at their separate homes conversing over landline telephones. The girl's in bed blowing bubblegum and the guy's taking five after playing his drumset. You know, typical young romance stuff. And this is earnestly why I'm saying it's odd.
