My first product I designed & manufactured 😖

Making a product from scratch is very difficult... In this #short I go through the process of designing a pocket knife, making a prototype, and then sending that design off to a manufacturer on alibaba to have a sample made. This is knife making 101 where you will learn how to make your first custom knife. I see a lot of bladesmiths making knives out of old files, saws, or even steel cables, but today I wanted to go through the process of actually putting a knife into production at a factory. Hope you enjoy!

Where do I buy it lol, definitely worth producing even at low volume. I'd totally pay 100-175 for that.

It kind of just looks pocket knife. I think it'd look more like a sword if the handle looked less like a generic pocket knife and more like an actual sword.

As a knife collector I would buy this as it seems like a very solid blade and would be fun to own

I couldn't see whether or not you did this but I think you beveled both edges and if you're going to have a sword like that for tactical use I would want one for culinary and I would want one to be as long as possible but absolutely straight because that's the type of knives I use I use Japanese knives but Japanese knives are only sharpened on one side and it's completely flat on the other so close but no cigars they say

What did it cost you to get the design and to have a prototype made? I’m a bladesmith apprentice and I’d love to have some of my designs become prototypes for me to run field tests on. This is an amazing idea to use when you aren’t at a level where the expensive machinery is accessible. If the total price is something reasonable, subjective I know, then this would be a game changer to help grow my business

Hey man, how expensive was the process overall? Was it hard to find a manufacturer that would make your first prototype?

How much did the design and prototype cost ?

Curious what the sample cost and if reproduction would meet the same standards as the original blade or will cost be too high
