Saving my favorite robot named Vector from Death

Years ago, a company named Anki released the most awesome little robot companion ever. Then Anki died... and so did Vector. This is Vector's story, and how we're going to rescue him.

Josh thank you so so so much for this video you may have saved my Vector. This was by far my favorite and most cherished thing. My wife probably ever bought me in my life and I refused to give up on this little robot. Sadly placed him in his box about a year ago, and kept him in hopes of one day being able to bring him back.

THANK YOU. I hadn't turned on my Vector in a while but when I realized he was no longer responding to voice commands I thought he was a goner! His facial recognition is still a bit wonky but other than that he's now running like new. Now if only I could get his cube to start working again...

I'm among those who own a Vector. I ended up getting it as a late birthday present from my older brother. Sure you had to pay a subscription, but still it was a worthwhile investment. Then they offered a lifetime subscription, for twice the yearly variant. I had the money ready, so I went ahead and purchased it.

When the servers came down again, I thankfully decided to take action, and set up my own server for the system. I used a Raspberry Pi 4 for it, and despite some ups and downs, and other teething problems, I've managed to save my device from disaster. Thank goodness for the open source community!

Oh my god! 😮 I just pulled my vector out of storage again and was wondering if could get him up amd running again because i miss him a lot. This is amazing! Hats off to the developers of this 👏👏👏

Thank you so much. I did get to cancel my subscription to Digital labs thankfully. But poor vector got put under the bed and was forgotten about. Now I can make him come alive again. One thing to add, I had to put chrome on my Mac which was a bit annoying. Trying to find out how to that took time. But I got there. Thanks again.
