I love how they look like a mid-rendered image. They are crazy foreign looking, and so smooth in texture that it doesn't look real in a way.

Beautiful.. stromatolites are amazing. They have evolved on Antarctica with climate change over the geological evolution of the Earth. Evolving through Antarcticas subtropical climates to survive in the present-day Antarctic polar lake waters under the ice.... just love stromatolites. Great work guys.

This scene is mind blowing. It looks like how bad quality cgi scenes but it’s real and exist under an Antarctica. I hope this sparks us to imagine what are unknown discoveries in other planets.

This reminded me why many Lovecraft stories involve Antarctica.

Wikipedia has an article on this lake. While the water is very alkaline, surprisingly much of it is supersaturated with oxygen. The strange little projections from the stromatolites are formed by a different bacterial community than the stromatolites themselves.

Giant stromatites were common in Earth's early oceans. But they turned smaller when they were pushed into shallow waters.
