Interacting Molecules With Antiparticles

Researchers have recently carried out the interaction between the simple molecules and positrons, the antiparticles of electrons. This study of interaction of matter and antimatter has massive medical and technological applications. Researchers developed a model to analyze the energy loss generated by colliding positrons with molecules in buffer-gas positron traps. Researchers are hoping this improved understanding of positrons and molecules interaction will be helpful will be used to improve techniques for positron emission tomography (PET) scanning in medicine.
