First Day in KERALA 🇮🇳 Fort Kochi, Mattancherry, Jew Town India Travel Vlog

In this India Travel Vlog, I finally made it down to Kerala! I took an overnight sleeper bus from Pondicherry to Kochi where I made my way to my hostel in the Fort Kochi area. I was shocked by how cute Fort Kochi is!!! I started my day at the Kashi Art Cafe with a smoothie bowl and coffee. Then I headed to the street market by Jawahar Park where I saw tons of foreigners as well as the famous Chinese Fishing Nets. It was a really cool experience to see them actually using the nets to fish and then selling the fish on the side of the road. The fishing nets are located right next to Bastian Bungalow, so I headed to the museum next. The museum is inside a gorgeous Dutch colonial style building with amazing views of the ocean through the big windows! It was a nice stop to learn some of the history of Fort Kochi. After Bastian Bungalow, it's just another few minutes walk over to the St. Francis CSI Church - the first European church in all of India! After seeing inside the church I headed across the street to the Dutch Cemetery - it's famous as it's the oldest cemetery of its kind in India as well as the resting place of many old Dutch and British explorers. While it was closed when I was there, you can walk around inside sometimes. The cemetery is located right next to Fort Kochi Beach which is a great spot for sunset! I decided to check out the beach as I was already there, which was extremely empty during the daytime. After the beach I walked past some cool graffiti before seeing the amazing Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica! Outside of the basilica I saw a flyer for the Kathakali dances which are famous in Kochi as well. I then jumped in an autorickshaw to head over to the Mattancherry part of Kochi. My first stop was the Mattancherry Palace which has lots of info about the royal families as well as gorgeous old murals! From the palace I walked down the streets of Jew Town to the famous Paradesi Synagogue. This was one of the most adorable streets in Kochi! I decided to walk the whole way back to Pandhal Cafe so I could pass by more adorable buildings and churches. Fort Kochi is such an amazing, walkable place!! I had a really good salad at Pandhal Cafe before heading back to Fort Kochi beach for the most gorgeous sunset!!! Unfortunately I had the wrong times for the Kathakali show so I missed it. However I'm sure it also would've been a great experience!

This video brought back great memories from the time I was in India and I took my best friend to Kochi for her birthday. I was surprised to see a town named Jew town, old synagogue and a Jewish cemetery. Being a Jew, I felt a more special connection to India. It’s a very calm and beautiful city❤

Most foreigners mostly prefer to visit kochi but kerala has very diverse landscapes such as forests, animal reserve parks, mountains, waterfalls, hill stations, backwaters, paddy fields, many farming fields, beautiful villages, and mostly a vast stretch of costline (there are many beautiful beaches in kerala but foreigners mostly visit kochi which is a populated city so usually the beach would not be clean or hygienic but as they only visits kochi beach they typecast kerala beach as so small and unhygienic )

You should visit Andaman and Nicobar islands-of India . It is much more closer to Indonesia than India. Beautiful beaches with turquoise water.

2:10 "it was 700 for a smoothie bowl and a coffee."
And that right there is why the place only has foreigners as customers.
