This color scheme slaps. I literally can't remember any faction or character design that wouldn't look good with that.

I find black and purple schemes really appealing. I ses a lot of the meaning you were talking about with it, and it beats painting purple with white any day, I'm not talented enough to use white in painting well. So any excuse to use a darker colour is great. I'm guess the darker the purple with the black the more evil the model is implied to be. And perhaps the lighter the purple the more magical.

Well now I can fully appreciate how they decided on the color scheme for Lelouch in Code Geass! Though it would have taken some of the mystery out of his character arc if I knew back then. Seems like you guys have mentioned it before but if you haven't seen that anime it's a good one!

Funny, the main color scheme for my Craftworld Eldar is black and purple with gold weapons. I was going for a look inspired by D&D drow and painted their skin black. Purple was also a color not represented in the various Aspect Warrior color schemes so these models really stand out from the others.
