Right here, this was Ted’s entire belief that his good actions and efforts could carry on and affect others like a butterfly effect. Everything Ted did for beard is the stepping stone to Nate’s journey where he learns to make something of himself.

The slasher horror movie sound effects when he first opens the door is excellent.

Jade is such an underrated character. She was instrumental to Nate’s redemption with Richmond, and with his finally connecting with his dad. She gave him the confidence to be the man he was always meant to be.

This scene explains why Beard is so attached to Ted. They get along but it was always a little perplexing as to why Beard always had Ted's back considering his demeanor/personality

In the book Les Mis there's a bunch of chapters that weren't included in the play all about the Bishop that helps Jean Valjean. He was so beloved by his community, traveling to houses just to check on them, nursing the sick that are brought to his door, bringing food to the needy who have had a setback in life, and he does it every day. He's portrayed as the nicest, most compassionate person you could ever meet. So when he "gives" Jean Valjean the silver set, it isn't meant to be a surprise like in the play. It's supposed to be an example of how to live a fulfilling life, a lesson the reader is to learn alongside Jean Valjean.

Ted Lasso is that Bishop. Full stop.

Man, I feel so bad for Beard. His family didn’t take him back? Addiction is rough. Imagine being abandoned by your own family. I know it’s fiction and all, but thank god he had a friend that loved him unconditionally. Usually, that should be your family that loves you like that.

It’s not all that uncommon to find that good, inspirational leaders have had some significant trauma in their lives. I worked for a police department and at one point one man who had worked there for almost his entire career got appointed to the Chief of Police, and he immediately started doing things a little bit different. He started filling positions in the command staff with people from outside agencies who were well respected leaders, and those existing members of the command staff who were known to not be good leader were demoted and and sent to leadership classes.
But it didn’t stop there, people in the department who were not in leadership positions, started getting some pretty significant assignments. I was a non sworn animal control officer, but I was assigned to be part of a team to creat a wellness program for the department, and my responsibility was to develop a program to retain SWORN officers! I was also given the responsibility of developing a support dog program for the department.
The chief was tapping people who didn’t have good resumes, but people who had good reputations, and surrounding himself with people who were strong in areas he wasn’t. I learned a LOT from him!

I've just watched Taskmaster series 17 with Nick Mohammed (playing Nate Shelley here in Ted Lasso) and he is just the loveliest, sweetest man! So glad that Ted Lasso brought him to more of the world's attention. (The others too, of course, but especially Hannah Waddington and Brett Goldstein!)
