First time in PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 | Manila is NOT what we expected!

We have finally made it to the PHILIPPINES! For the next few weeks we will be exploring the local side to this country and bringing you with us to explore what the typical tourist doesn't see.

In this video we arrive to our hotel in Makati, check out the famous fazt food chain JOLIBEE, meet a street vendor and end by doing somthing that we've heard the Philippines does best... a shopping mall! READ: I’m Filipino and have been to 40 countries around the world, mostly in Europe. I understand that for many Europeans, the Philippines isn’t what they expect, but the way they keep saying they’re ‘surprised and didn’t expect Manila’ can come off a bit condescending — like they underestimated the Philippines. I know they’re not being intentionally rude and they stay humble (which I love about you guys), but it’s clear that many Westerners have a perception of the Philippines that’s worse than the reality. It just made me feel a little sad.

This is the fact anyway. That's why I have to keep defending Philippines or Manila in particular to my non-Filipino bestfriends. Convincing them it's not as bad as they think.
