On the pushbikes is myself (Ian Wheatley) and George Jelves. His mum ran the Fish & Chip shop and adjacent shop. Jumping the wall is Philip Harker (brother-in-law), garage owner and one time butcher of this parish. Seated with newspaper is Bill Wheatley (Dad) along side one of the postmen who drove through from Maryport with mail, then delivered around the farms etc. Think his name was Alan (?). Serving at the garage was Pat Harker (sister) with her daughter Lynda (now Hodgson living Cockermouth), and my Gran who was visiting from Newcastle. Serving tea to dad & posties is my mum Eva Wheatley, who ran the Post Office. Entering the Post Office is Joe Gardhouse
