A couple food items you should look for. One is Lao Kao Soi. You've probably had Thai Kao Soil before, which is a popular Issan noodle soup dish. The Lao version is a tomato based soup, different from the Thai version but very tasty. Also, look for street vendors that grill whole fish (Tilapia). They usually stuff it with lemongrass before they grill it, which ads a great flavor to the fish !
