Misconception #3: Where's the Math? | Thunderbolts

Narrated by David Drew. Third episode in the Misconception series on the EU Model—with an emphasis on how science is practiced, interpreted, publicized, and absorbed by society.

Math isn't science, and science isn't math. For example, planetary orbits were believed to be perfectly circular. When proven false, a mathematical workaround was devised—epicycles. Although mathematically elegant, the epicyclic model failed to reflect reality.

Mathematics can describe nature with precision—it's known as the language of the universe—although how it's interpreted can be subjective and even lost in translation. Building science on math is putting the cart before the horse—like running an enterprise with only accountants under a delusional business model.

Author and independent researcher David Drew analyzes the role of mathematics in cosmology and in the scientific method.

Too bad so many can't see past the limitations of a math-only approach. Exceptional discourse.

Really top notch David. Can’t wait to see the next one. Where is the peer review research? The first time I found out how they blocked our peer reviews, my jaw hit the floor. So shady. You know your theory sucks when you have to cheat to win. Applies to so many things in life.

Awesome job from across the pond. My favorite part is: Black holes are frequently haled as one of the best predictions of general relativity.” Very true. The predictions of fiction should also be fiction. Points for consistency for the mainstream puzzle factory.

That video should be required viewing for every physics major entering a university.

Big-Bang vs. Plasma Cosmology Joke:
A physicist goes to an ice cream parlour every week and orders an ice cream for himself and offers an ice cream for the empty stool sitting next to him. This goes on for a while until the owner asks him what he is doing. The man said “well I’m a physicist and Quantum Mechanics teaches us that it is possible for the matter above this stool to spontaneously turn into a beautiful woman who might accept my offer and fall in love with me” The owner says” well there are a lot of single beautiful woman come in here every day, so why don’t you buy an ice cream for one of them and they might fall in love with you”. And the physicist says “yeah, but what are the odds of that happening”!

The math is never flawed, it's the flawed applications based on flawed assumptions is where the flaws originated from. The proverbial "garbage in, garbage out".

If you don't have an observation, any math is as good as a course in creative writing. The variables can't be predicted, if the central idea is, our best guess.

One of The most annoying things about StarTrek OS et al. Was Roddenberry & others wanted these programs to follow The science, while I would have found it much more satisfying if it were revealed that around 2080, There was a crisis in physics, & they just started over from scratch !

An age old wisdom states, " the more you learn, the less you know" and those that dig a hole in a theory can keep digging deeper and convince themselves they are correct.

That analogy of accountants in a business compared to mathematics in a business is brilliant! Brilliant, even.

Thank you, I agree. One way that math is very much like language is that with it you can say whatever you want. For most, it seems they want to say much but do little.

I read A Brief History of time in the 80s, when I was 15. After reading the claim that scientists knew what happened seconds after the Big Bang, but still didn't know what it was, I said, "They'll never get there. They're counting to infinity." ... And here we are, closer and closer, with Zeno rolling in his grave. ♾️
